It is deadly as a street drug, but it is safe and effective in the hospital setting.
It is used on nearly every patient that has an operation with anesthesia and would be very difficult to find a replacement that is as versatile.
- propman 8y agoThat is a blankety false statement mate. It's not used on nearly every patent, it's VERY rarely used for anesthesia. Very rarely.
- mv 8y agoI am a board certified anesthesiologist in the USA. What is your justification or source for calling this false? Fentanyl is given to nearly every patient prior to intubation and frequently redosed throughout most operations.

- trumped 8y agodo hospitals even use generics? (but I was not talking about hospital use in my previous comment) One reason why it is deadly in the streets is because a safe dose is so small and hard to measure: http://mediad.publicbroadcasting.net/p/wosu2/files/styles/x_large/public/201705/heroin_fentanyl_carfentanil.jpg http://mediad.publicbroadcasting.net/p/wosu2/files/styles/x_...
- maxerickson 8y agoOf course. They are even moving to take ownership of generic drug production: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/18/health/drug-prices-hospitals.html https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/18/health/drug-prices-hospit...
