Find a good cheatsheet that you're able to browse through quickly. Uninstall every GUI editor you have on your machine. It took me ~ a month before I was fully getting the hang of it. Now I'm about a year in and not only has my familiarity with my keyboard greatly improved, but I am finally reaping the benefits of speed and portability (gotta love having an identical editor experience on any machine you SSH into).
