- SmellTheGlove 8y agoWho knows if they are, but it's generally courteous to ship data to an external party in a fairly universal format. For tables, it doesn't get much more universal than CSV.
- gondo 8y agoon the screenshots there are .xlsx (on top) and .csv formats i was commenting about the .xlsx
- dpedu 8y agoNumbers can export in Excel format.
- gondo 8y agothat is an extra step. why would anyone do it? it is more likely that they simply do not use Numbers
- Jerry2 8y agoExcel sheets are automatically generated from whichever database they use.
- gondo 8y agoin that case why not use universal format .csv? why go for both .xslx and .csv?
- neuland 8y agoI love CSV over XLSX too, but calling it a universal format is dubious if you're even encountered shit-tier CSV output by "Enterprise" tools. Even Excel produces garbage CSV. I wish more people followed RFC4180. And that's how I write all my stuff that supports CSV input or output. But, there's a lot of bad csv software out there.
