Musk Says Tesla Will Build 500 Cars per Day Starting This Week
- mannykannot 8y agoIn just one more week, he could have had the much more impressive headline 'Tesla Building 500 Cars a Day'. ...or not.
- olliej 8y agoThat was exactly my thought -- surely you wait until you can just say "we're producing more than X per day, right now"?
- toomuchtodo 8y agoIt was stated in an internal email to employees. Whether it was intended to be leaked, or to grab headlines, isn’t clear.
- teachrdan 8y agoThat's 500 a day, 7 days a week, folks: "With production now running all week over 500 per day would add up to over 3,500 Model 3 vehicles per week." "Only a few weeks ago, Musk confirmed that Tesla was producing just over 2,000 Model 3 vehicles per week, but he also said that they have been working through some important bottlenecks that could result in significant production increases."
- ianai 8y agoWhy would anyone buy a Tesla now? From my understanding, it’s impossible to get parts or work done on these cars. Yes, they’re solid state and shouldn’t need it but we live in the real world...
- sabareesh 8y agoWhy will someone wont buy a tesla. Love the performance, autopilot, good warranty, you just need to get serviced in the service center which is not abnormal for new cars. And I dont know what parts you are really talking about.
- greglindahl 8y agoMaybe you got your understanding from reading HN, but Tesla owners, as a group, are very loyal to the brand. In fact Tesla owners have the highest loyalty among cars in its price band. So apparently your understanding is wrong, or, Tesla owners are all bat-shit crazy and are covering up the fact that their cars are broken and can't be fixed.
- mrguyorama 8y agoBeing insanely loyal can often blind you to the reality of the quality of your choices. Especially since your mind wants to reinforce choices you've made, to avoid being self-critical. Nevermind the sunk-costs fallacy works with more than just actual cash
- greglindahl 8y agoOK, so you're voting for "bat-shit crazy". That's not bad, coming up on 200,000 bat-shit crazy customers.
- ianai 8y agoI think you’re reading more into my comment than I intended. I have 0 time to invest into figuring out the Tesla brand aside from what’s here or in the news. I see many negative comments here and only bad press surrounding Tesla accidents, production rates, and such. Personally, I applaud their desire to change the auto market, but we’re still talking about vehicles on the road. My life’s in the car everytime I go for a drive. That’s a perfect reason to be reliant on proven solutions.
- greglindahl 8y agoBy all means, if you don't want to buy a Tesla, please don't! My comment was mainly pointing out that you're repeating rumors, and that if they were true, Tesla owners would be up in arms about the problems. But, instead, they're giving Tesla the highest score on the "Would you buy another of the same brand car?" test of all luxury car brands.
