Or just maybe getting hit by that kind of counter offer when you were bothering someone by pushing to move their wedding date hits you like cold water and you are like right, I'll leave this person alone and avoid making it weirder.
- musage 8y agoHow is turning ice cold required for relenting, how is that not making it much "weirder"? Weirder is too bland an adjective by the way, it says nothing, yet people use it describe anything ranging from unusual food combinations to pretty fucked up stuff. A normal and genuinely charming person would just charmfully relent. If you appreciate someone so much you really really want them as a keynote speaker, you should be thrilled hearing they're going to get married to the other person standing right in front of you whom you also had a charming conversation with. It doesn't take crazy levels of empathy and goodwill to find two people getting married much more exciting than a keynote at some annual thing. So that doesn't fit at all. However, the pattern of being charming to gain something you think you are entitled to before anyone else even enters the picture, and the instantly discarding someone once you realize they aren't biting, that fits like a glove. But of course, we should be super careful saying anyone might be a sociopath, and don't have to be careful at all with just throwing out rationalizations just to throw them out, even when they hold zero water like yours. That's fine, you don't have to be a psychologist to do that.
