I think we should look into why we need all this garbage in the first place. Sane, reproducible package and configuration management would go a long way, I've been meaning to see whether NixOS fits the bill. Until then, static binaries seems like the least bad option, and for the containerization you can just use the native OS features. And I don't understand how people take this to mean they have to write all their software in Go or Rust, any language can be compiled into a static binary.
