If lower intelligence isn't correlated with poverty, what that must mean is that intelligence doesn't help people out of poverty.

    But it if it does some of the time, that would create a detectable offset in the statistics. Unless it is precisely offset by an effect whereby higher intelligence specifically contributes to poverty.
