It's because that's where the focus is directed by the companies themselves. How would you even know who the real people doing the work are without the company sharing that information? I think the execs would prefer people to assume they come up with all the ideas themselves rather than share the credit (and have their competitors know who to poach). I agree, though -- it's a shame people give Elon so much credit for the hard work of his nameless employees.
