Sigh. Why is this trash posted so often on HN?

  Because people are fair weather friends and when their fount of information goes counter an expected narrative, it feels like a bit of betrayal so you then go ahead and try to knock their credibility. Mind you they don’t question the veracity of the leaks themselves but rather pose an ad hominem about the truthfulness of the group. It’s like questioning the truthfulness of a reporter who lies (in a personal context) but use that to question otherwise undisputed direct quotes.

  It is a reasonable conjecture that WikiLeaks have been harnessed by fascist regimes. It takes a minimal thought experiment to see that this is highly plausible. The degree to which it is actually true (if at all) depends on circumstantial evidence. There is also evidence that they are accidentally/deliberately malfeasant (eg links below).
