This is very cool, thank you for sharing. I wonder if at least part of the structure comes from regular structure of major sequences of gaps (e.g., remove all even numbers and all factors of 3 and what is left is of the form 6k +/- 1). If so, I would expect those to wash out a little for larger squares. I have some plotting to do when I get home
