I agree 100% with your last paragraph... their desire to keep bolting bits onto legacy software is a major annoyance and leads to a lot of kruft.

I agree 100% with your last paragraph... their desire to keep bolting bits onto legacy software is a major annoyance and leads to a lot of kruft.
- runjake 16y agoNT is not legacy software by any means. If anything, they are bolting legacy crap onto NT OS (such as the concept of drive letters, where the NT OS natively uses more UNIX-like paths)
