Can anyone explain to me what the rationale is behind the license stipulations that Mapbox, Google Maps, etc all use for their less expensive plans "Asset tracking not allowed". It's the exact same map, but at a different use. Not very net neutral or mindful of the open source ethos.
Case in point: have several small admin applications, Mapbox and Google want $500+ for them because they're internal and restricted access.
- stadiamaps 8y agoWe wondered the exact same thing. That's why all of our paid tiers allow it. :) We do require a paid tier because almost all asset tracking applications are commercial, which based on our non-commercial/development-only clause for the Free tier requiring a paid plan is the logical outcome. If you have a non-profit project that does asset tracking and is under our Free limits, please let us know, and we can discuss options!
- joelhaasnoot 8y agoIt looks like you have a bug then in your pricing table. The second column for the starter plan says "Commercial use allowed, Asset tracking NOT allowed" (screenshot with my emphasis https://imgur.com/a/I6j1qe7 https://imgur.com/a/I6j1qe7)
- stadiamaps 8y agoHey joelhaasnoot! Thanks for letting us know. That is definitely a bug in our pricing table. We'll correct that.
