Ask HN: What does an SDE III in Amazon or equivalent do?

I have about 12 years of Software Development experience. I have never been in the big 4 companies like Amazon/Microsoft. I am wondering what is the expectation from or habits of SDE III in Amazon equivalent? My current role includes mostly picking up stories from my team's sprint and as a senior most engineer in team represent in architecture meetings with other architects from teams working in same product. Do SDE3s breed code left right centre, architect the whole system and make it easier for other engineer or they do less coding then other engineers?
