Newton had issues with aether messing philosophically with local realism. Einstein fixed that through SR and then GR. But then QM introduced new problems with local realism, and maybe the next physics revolution is reconciling that problem. So, not the same thing, but perhaps two different sides of the same million-sided armchair-philosophical dice.
