Lived and studied in Scotland for 9 months (I am from Germany) when I was 22. Dunno if that counts as "extended". It certainly helped me to become a bit more adult and a lot more independent and confident. 10/10 would recommend :) Positive side effect: I now understand Trainspotting without subtitles, which did it not before :)
