From the same diagnostic interface:
traceroute to 1.1.1.1 (1.1.1.1), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
1 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com (1.1.1.1) 0.327 ms 0.156 ms 0.120 ms
- nitrogen 9y agoThe fact that the reverse DNS is correct doesn't mean that it's reaching the real deal. The fact that the ping time is fast enough that light could only have traveled 5 or 6 miles one way means it's almost certainly not the real deal.
- alex_young 9y agoYou're right. The fact that it's only one hop should have told me the same.
- ajross 9y agoFWIW: light can go ~23 miles in the 120us measured.
- nitrogen 9y agoHmm, not sure how I managed that; must have divided by 2 twice or something to find one-way length.
