Cold starts are a real issue and while warming via pings can mitigate the issue, you will still run into cold starts when demand scales up.
Java with Spring is really difficult with AWS Lambda because of the slow cold starts. Five seconds for a cold start is unacceptable for many applications.
- iamalexm 8y agoThe biggest deal I have seen with cold starts is putting a lambda in a VPC. It has to put an ENI on it and that is expensive. The real question is, why would you use flask in a serverless app? You don't need it and shouldn't use it. The whole point is to get rid of that layer.
