How do you run stand-ups with no meetings whatsoever? Is the hope that you get asynchronous communication through slack?
- wpietri 9y agoOne team I worked on distinguished "meetings" from "conversations". The former being formal, scheduled things with agendas, and the latter being people on the team talking about things as needed, with people showing up if they wanted. We had very few meetings. Technically the stand-up would have been a meeting. But since it was our choice, we would have probably considered it a conversation, as it was not some uncontrollable schedule bomb, but our way of getting the day started.
- majewsky 9y agoWhen I was in a team that did stand-ups, I convinced them to do it in Slack vs. via phone (in-person was not possible because the team was distributed). We set up a daily channel reminder in Slackbot that contains the traditional standup questions.
