I think the workflow is great for the web tutorials I see all over the place, and I'm sure it's a pretty good fit for exploratory data analysis and model building. On the other hand, I see a lot of people pushing it as the must have tool for data science broadly, and I just don't see it fitting into most production workflows. When a model and the associated data pipelines hit production, they need to be version controlled - plain text files can't be beat for that. The idea that the same tool should be both IDE and report is also very strange to me - I can see how it lowers the barrier to entry in some cases, but it doesn't seem optimal for most uses. I do agree that Jupyter has helped a lot to get reproducibility on people's radars, and that's a positive thing.
