I still don't understand why would Google or Amazon care about this, and why it's against their ToS. Do they think that some of those states may block all kind of access to their IP blocks just because of some people using Signal?
- DangerousPie 9y ago> Do they think that some of those states may block all kind of access to their IP blocks just because of some people using Signal? I think this is exactly the problem, yes.
- manigandham 9y agoThat's exactly what happened, so yes. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/04/in-effort-to-shut-down-telegram-russia-blocks-amazon-google-network-addresses/ https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/04/in-ef...
- middleclick 9y agoCollateral damage...
- zoltaan 9y agoI can imagine why someone cares if someone else pretend being that someone....
- icebraining 9y agoNo, the trick works the other way around; they pretend they want to talk to someone, but then talk to someone else. They never pretend to be someone else.
- s73v3r_ 9y agoThey're still dragging an unrelated and unconsenting party into the mix.
- zoltaan 9y agoRight. Even so, don't you see problem in that too? Pretending doing one but in fact doing other? Just imagine using that for a non noble cause....
- icebraining 9y agoI actually can't :) I mean, I can see why one would oppose it because of how it affects Amazon, but I can't see how it could be used for a non-noble cause.
