It has a much faster CPU and a decent discrete graphics card (a 1050 Ti).
Granted, I bought it on sale and the machine today would be ~$750, but the real point I'm trying to make is that even that low-specced machine is superior to my newer MBP for many things - like parsing large text files, or pretty anything to do with encryption.
