Ok, then don't comply and shut down, but I don't see what's ambiguous about the GDPR in this context. Also, they goal of the EU is not to fine the hell out of small businesses; it's compliance. Companies found to be out of compliance will be worked with and an attempt to conform to the spirit of the law shows good faith. This article sounds a lot like sour grapes and shows no real attempt to actually figure out what compliance would look like.
