I like this merger, but the companies use different cellular tech. How long and how much cost to convert Sprint to CDMA? I would expect Verizon to be affected

I like this merger, but the companies use different cellular tech. How long and how much cost to convert Sprint to CDMA? I would expect Verizon to be affected both positively (short term) and negatively (long term) since some (most?) devices are specific to the radio type. Verizon will be the lone major hold out on CDMA.
