Why not put a bounty of bitcoins on your laptop? If it's large enough it becomes worth taking even though that will alert you.
- gerdesj 8y agoI think you are advocating something like putting a diamond ring on view behind one of your house's windows. If the ring gets stolen by someone breaking in via the window then you know it has gone but you do not know whether the thief say changed the locks in some way. Now they can come and go with impunity.
- emmab 8y agoWell if you're really paranoid that's the point where you get a new laptop.
- rtkwe 8y agoBecause that only works for a small subset of attackers. If it's a state actor that's hacked your computer they're unlikely to be interested in any reasonable sum of money.
