- tghw 16y agoIf you happen to be on Windows Vista or Windows 7, ReadyBoost (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Readyboost http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Readyboost) comes close. It helps cache files, as well as providing a faster place for virtual memory to be stored. Vista's implementation of RB had some...oddities, but it seems they fixed it in Win 7.
- nitrogen 16y agoThere's the HDDBOOST, from SilverStone, though it almost sounds like you were just begging someone to link to it ;) Some benchmarks: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=silverstone_hddboost_re&num=1 http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=silve...
- Splines 16y agoHrm. I was hoping that such a device would perform better. Yeah, I was hoping someone would link something. In this case, I didn't really know what I was looking for. What do you call a doohickey that does that sort of thing?
- nitrogen 16y agoI'm not personally aware of any specific name for it, but I used search terms in the neighborhood of "SSD hybrid adapter" to find the Phoronix article.
