I personally love it and have used it for a ton of smaller projects. For example, I just deployed this a couple days ago: http://dadjoke.info http://dadjoke.info
- tonysickpony 8y agoYour website looks sleek. Hope dad joke newsletter business goes well for you.
- chasedehan 8y agoThanks, this will probably be a net-negative on my part, but was a fun project to work on. It stemmed from a hack day I had at work
- tudelo 8y agoFYI your home page refers to "DadJokeJunkie.com promises not to spam you or share your number and you can opt out at any time." but that is not your site :P
- chasedehan 8y agoYeah, I know. Was having problems with the domain and bought the .info to just make it work. Once I have a couple minutes, I'll make it work with the other
- dibstern 8y agoUS numbers only :(
- chasedehan 8y agoI know:(, sorry. Reason is I'm using Twilio for the text messages and non-US numbers are really expensive. Since I'm not trying to monetize it I want to make sure that I am able to fund it out of my pocket.
- donarb 8y agoI don't know about non-US numbers, but you can send text messages via email for free. You can usually do that by sending the email to the user's number at their provider. There are sites on the internet that will give you the user's provider from the phone number. For example, a user who has AT&T can receive a text by emailing it to <phonenumber>@txt.att.net. https://lifehacker.com/5506326/how-can-i-send-an-email-via-text-message https://lifehacker.com/5506326/how-can-i-send-an-email-via-t...
- marksomnian 8y agoMaybe add Telegram/FB Messenger support? US numbers only is a bit restrictive
- chasedehan 8y agoNot a bad idea! That was I wouldn't have to pay non-US SMS rates.
- welder 8y agoAnother website built 100% with Flask: https://wakatime.com https://wakatime.com Flask has scaled very well and never run into Django dead-ends, like where Django isn't flexible enough to do something and requires a hack.
