My step-father had sepsis two weeks ago. IV antibiotics and a few other interventions and he was sent home from the hospital after a few days with some Cipro. Antibiotics are fantastic and I hope we somehow stave off the dystopian post-antibiotic future.
- craftyguy 8y agoWell, bacteria are super motivated to evolve (naturally), so our antibiotics are doomed to be ineffective (naturally) sooner or later.

- axaxs 8y agoCipro is not good. Stuff has messed me up a lot in the short time I took it. Be warned.
- DoreenMichele 8y agoWhat doctors never seem to tell patients is what you need to do to clean up the mess left behind in the wake of powerful antibiotics. Your step father would be wise to actively try to repair the damage to his gut flora, get excess yeast under control, remedy any nutrient deficiencies he has been left with and flush any drug residues from his system. Otherwise he is likely to have another health crisis fairly soon. It can become a vicious cycle.
