Not sure why this is being downvoted... Cryptocurrency mining seems to be the ideal fit for remote regions with abundance of cheap energy, since transferring data is easier than moving energy somewhere it can be used for other things and also easier than, say, importing bauxite and exporting aluminium. It's the same reason why miners in China use hydro power.
