This seems nice. Besides a bunch of fanboy comments coming from the creators and devs, why is this exciting to the rest of us where things like the capability to join tables in an rdbms is trivial.
- thx4thefish 8y agoThanks for the downvote. My question still remains.
- deepanchor 8y agoDidn't downvote you, but I believe the excitement is over FoundationDB's ability to perform ACID compliant distributed transactions without sacrificing performance -which to my knowledge no current RDBMS or even NoSql can do.
- pacala 8y ago> no current RDBMS can do https://cloud.google.com/spanner/ https://cloud.google.com/spanner/ ?
- deepanchor 8y agoMeant to say "no current open-source RDBMS"
- geeostation 8y agoCosmos DB on Azure has been doing it for a while now
- rapsey 8y agoFDB is lower layer. It makes it possible to build a distributed rdbms on top of it. There are is some competition in this area, nothing remotely as mature as FDB.
