In my case, I don't care about the "privacy protection" of a given social network: I assume that everything I post is public (except private messages), so I filter what I upload based on that assumption.
Things I do care about:
-No censorship
-Chronological feed
-Open source & non-abusive client. (i.e. no tracking what users see or read)
-Good usability
I don't care about abusive content or fake news. If I see fake news, I just stop following whoever posted it.
So, under my criteria: decentralized > facebook

- xj9 9y agoif you can't tell the difference between real news and fake news, what makes you think `$whatever_arbiter` will do a better job?
- KirinDave 9y agoWhy did you ask me a question totally unrelated to my post? I am not sure that I do think $$whatever_organization can do better, but perhaps it has more resources to issue corrections.
- strypey 8y agoIt might also have its own agenda about what news it wants to be considered "real" or "fake".
- GCU-Empiricist 9y agoMaybe doing due diligence, reading a few primary sources, before you choose to believe or act on something?
