- politician 9y agoWell that's only if you have a reason to care about a particular Terran jurisdiction. If you deploy servers to the moon with a self-sufficient power supply, networking, and maintenance, and you want to host The Pirate Bay or whatever in flagrant violation of Terran law -- you can! Governments operate on threat of violence. If you can arrange to be beyond their reach, then you can ignore their rules. One doesn't have to look to the Moon for evidence of that, migration to the "New World" from "Old Europe" is sufficient. In a world where bitcoin is still a thing, those moon servers could potentially even make money and participate in the Earth-bound economy (e.g. via a participating Earth uplink station).
- tetha 9y agoYou are not beyond their reach though. Your servers might be, but you, personally, your routing and your uplinks are not.
- stcredzero 9y agoWhat if all of the uplinks were self contained pizza box sized devices?
