The US has weak food safety laws when compared to the EU, but I don't see anyone bitching about that. Food has a much more direct impact on your health and safety than Facebook does, we would be better off if we brought those regulations over rather than data security laws.
Facebook is doing exactly what any other company would do - complying with the law as needed. There's no data privacy law like GDPR in the US. Don't yell at Facebook about this, yell at your congressman.
- IBM 9y agoYelling at Facebook is how you get Congress to do something about it.
- tarboreus 9y agoThis would be fine if Facebook did not claim, essentially, to be an Irish company for all purposes that suit them. They're having their cake and eating it.
- frgtpsswrdlame 9y agoWhy not yell at both? Perhaps my senator hasn't/isn't doing enough to protect my privacy but Facebook is actively undermining it. I really hate to tie it to this term because of the political implications but it really is this weird victim-blaming. A corporation is actively compromising the privacy of hundreds of millions of people and somehow it's our fault for not stopping them. That logic just doesn't fly with me.
- arcbyte 9y ago> actively compromising the privacy of hundreds of millions of people What sensationalist falsehood is this?!
