Your data has helped keep the internet free. Now what?
- _o_ 8y agoI am old guy... I still remember times when there were ads but no one was tracking you. And everything was still free. I dont agree with the article, the ads ARE ethnical, but tracking user is not. I wonder how those two guys would feel if I would walk all the time behind them and write down everything what they are doing. And when they would ask what am I doing, i would say "just collecting data for targeted ads". Feels a bit different when you put it into real world, right? Now the data are "legaly" gone, nothing will change, ads will still be there even without targeting. But after a while, when most of tracking parasites will go out of business, the pages will load much faster. And probably we will have a few clickbait sites less.
