Agreed. And jamming 50 dimes into a washing machine is equally ridiculous.
In the UK we have a 2GBP coin, which is roughly $5. Imagine how useful it'd be to have $1 $2 and $5 coins for vending machines etc.
- glymor 16y ago2GBP is 3.09USD currently.
- cookiecaper 16y agoThe government has pushed $1 coins on several occasions before but they have never been able to get it to catch on.
- _delirium 16y agoYou still get them as change from Post Office vending machines, but that's about the only place that uses them. Stores seem confused if you try to use them, so if I get a dollar coin from the Post Office's machines, I usually use them in parking meters, which (at least around here) take them just fine.
- sabj 16y agoI try to use them... whether the new Presidential ones or otherwise. People get angry and I say, you'll take your dollar coins and like them!
- points 16y agoForce people. Get rid of $1 bills which are useless, and produce $1 coins.
- thought_alarm 16y ago> The government has pushed $1 coins on several occasions before but they have never been able to get it to catch on. They would catch on real quick if you got rid of the dollar bill.
- heresy 16y agoHow would "ballers" show how much money they have then?
