I'm in a fraternity and can give you some coached advice. Every year we like to pull in that stereotypical, socially-awkward kid. Why? Because their funny. Your best bet is to be honest about your social ineptitude and play it off in a comedic fashion. Pledging (and being around the older guys) will help you develop the social skills that you desire. If you're a hacker you're probably logical and analytical as hell. When you go out with these guys analyze them and what they do. Break it down and repeat their processes. What works for them will work for you.
