TV model: I am paying for basic channels. Yet I am paying for selected channels, say National Geographic or BBC Earth if I want to get those. Will this schema

TV model: I am paying for basic channels. Yet I am paying for selected channels, say National Geographic or BBC Earth if I want to get those. Will this schema work with Internet? Like if I want FB I will pay for facebook's dedicated TCP/IP port access. Sounds crazy of course but could it be something along these lines?
