The skeptic in me thinks that this story is Volvo trying to counter the bad news of their car killing a pedestrian with good news of how many drivers haven't died. Although it's not their fault for the crash, celebrating the safety of an SUV, when it's size and extra weight means that crashes with pedestrians will more likely end in death, seems odd.
