I'd expect the same of any other country's news, really. With that perspective in mind, it's definitely threatening given the rivalry between the U.S. and China. There's both the economic threat towards America's future prosperity as a country for technology, and the cultural threat that a country modeled like China will surpass a country modeled like the United States. The second one is what I find most concerning.
