Show HN: Easily send documents via Fedex, right from your computer
- kunle 8y agoHey HN - we built this to make it super easy to print and mail documents without having to go to a post office or a fedex location. All the work happens in your browser, and you'll receive tracking numbers and delivery notifications via email. Eager for feedback - thanks.
- shanecleveland 8y agoNot quite clear on the use-case. It seems that any document that could be scanned and uploaded for you to send could just as easily be emailed. If something needs to be mailed, it's typically because an original or wet-ink hard copy is required. Paper invoices may be an exception, but any business doing that regularly would already have a much more cost-effective solution in place. One possibility that comes to mind is to remain anonymous by sending through you.
- mipmap04 8y agoI have a use-case: I wrote a software that is used for validating accuracy of AP data by reaching out to vendors. The default method, if available, is to email the vendors. In many cases, our customers don't have accurate vendor contact info (and rarely do they have good email addresses) so, when email addresses aren't available, we print letters. Our system right now prints and formats the letters, but someone still needs to go mail the letters physically.
- shanecleveland 8y agoGood one. And probably others like this exist. So an API of some kind would be useful for you, but also likely don't need overnight/expedited delivery and would want to have much closer to regular letter postage costs. Not knocking the idea, just hoping to help narrow the question of "who needs this?"
- kunle 8y agoNo worries. Some of our inspiration came from a couple of earlier services we built for print and mail, where we constantly fielded questions from customers who wanted their mail to arrive faster.
- kunle 8y agoThis is interesting. What software do you use for this today (that maintains vendor addresses?). We'd be interested in building an integration to automate this if you're up for it. Email team@sendovernightmail.com.
- mark212 8y agoI have another: several federal courts require hard copies of all filings delivered to chambers by noon the day after. All filing is electronic already, been that way for nearly 20 years, which means everything is a pdf upload. But getting those hard copies out to chambers is a chore. Would be great to just upload the files PDFs to a service, click on an address, and done. (Probably not a huge business, admittedly, but things like this still exist. Sadly. Blame elderly judges with lifetime tenure and broken processes that are still paper based.)
- kunle 8y agoHaven't seen this case before but it's pretty interesting. Thanks for suggesting it.
- kunle 8y agoUnderstood - this is one of the most frustrating things about paper mail. In most cases, you don't need to send anything physical. However there are a ton of cases where physical mail is essentially a legal or policy requirement. Some examples are settlement notices (for class actions and recalls), construction notices (for demolitions), gym membership cancellation letters, insurance claims, credit bureau settlements, certain tax documents & filings, etc. In most of those cases, by the time you hit the use case, you haven't been to the post office or to a Fedex location in ages. We just make it easy to get over that hump.
- ApolloRising 8y agoYour pricing on the front page is super high.
- kunle 8y agoThese should go down as we get higher volume. At the moment the fulfillment services we rely on (for a single piece of mail) are quite expensive. :/
