Much like "computers" used to be rooms full of people doing calculations, "AI" is here, and it's large organizations running on people. It has been with us probably since the dawn of agriculture.
- Arbalest 9y agoAKA society. I like to think of society as a collective unconsciousness. An interaction of innumerable systems which are (mostly) not well documented (as a result of the vast count). That pretty much describes the state of brain research too.
- vanderZwan 9y agoHuh, that makes sense. I have been thinking along the line of humans really needing each other to think better, like we are inherently some kind of "distributed intelligence", and that like concurrency and parallelisation over multiple CPU cores, you can't apply it to every problem, and that some problems are more embarrassingly parallel than others. Another analogy that has been on my mind the blind men and the elephant parable, where no single blind man can have a full picture of what the elephant is.
