For starters we had the Turkish / Egyptian pizza ( Prince of pizza on Montgomery) joints , Chinese Mexican spots ( who’s food was neither very Mexican , texmex or westernized Chinese one on Newark ave and grove street) a polish restaurants run by Czech and Italians (up by the courthouse on Newark ave ) a Cuban restaurant run by actual Cubans From Cuba( who also owned the stoned pony in asbury park ) and my favorite a Greek diner owned by a Lebanese of Greek descents who had a family of women from cetuna ( Spanish Morocco) who ran everything. They were memorable for speaking English, proper Spanish , Arabic and getting a burger in under 5 mins ( the vip on sip )
