I use an IDE with git integration. So I really never worry about most of this but I do also interact with the command line. When I create a new file in my IDE it asks me if I want to add it ... I won't argue there is a relatively long learning period with git ... It helps if you have some experienced mentors in this area. But you get a lot of power for this...

> asks me if I want to add it. Where "it" is just the snapshot of that file as it is now, not as it will be at commit time; then you have to add it again!

  right, but at that point it is only git commit -a
