I'd honestly just rather get hacked on 99.9999% of sites. I absolutely hate getting told to go get my phone or go to my email. This also makes me a lot more paranoid about losing my phone.

You don't have to use your phone. In theory you may also use a Yubikey

  I had a yubikey. It died after a few months of simply lying on the shelf behind me. No idea why, but havent exactly been a fan after that.

    Did you get it replaced? Seems like it should have still been under warranty after only a few months.
