I work with incredibly talented Indian engineers. The secret is that they're being paid like talented engineers. I agree, you get what you pay for.

  This is too simplistic and doesn't match my experience. It is true that if you pay rubbish you are likely to get low quality personnel. If you pay well, then you may or may not get quality.

      The thing is that you don't really buy developers or even developer's time but a service which is a more complex package where your interests and those of the people who sell you the package are not alligned.
