Qualcomm keeps making new IP that has contributed to newer standards like CDMA2000, UMTS & HSPA, and LTE. The article makes it seem like it's Qualcomm's "CDMA Technologies division" that's driving revenue. That might be what Qualcomm calls the division (or not), but it sounds like the division that makes its chips. Either way, Qualcomm still owns a lot of standards essential patents needed for running a modern wireless network or handset.
