I think more people need to embrace and understand the fact that we are a long way from having fully autonomous vehicles that you can just give the steering reins to from start to finish. The term 'Autopilot' gives off the wrong idea that the driver can sit back and relax while the car brings you from point A to point B safely. The same is happening with chatbots - more and more businesses think they can put a chatbot on their site and assume it'll handle everything when in fact it's meant to assist you rather than take over things for you.

  Yep it took Google/Waymo 8 years to get there but Musk and Uber just wants to move fast and crash into things. Musk wouldn't be selling self-driving since Oct'16 if it's not any day now or would he ?

  Waymo has shown no such thing. In controlled, limited circumstances, yes, but in complex, poorly mapped, degraded conditions, not yet.

Let me know where I can buy a M1 Abrams, if you don't, I'll claim they don't exist! But actually, you can get a ride in a Waymo self-driving car already, with nobody on the driver's seat.
