These would reduce the scale with which it would be able to operate. Someone would have to interact with the app directly, as opposed to their friends' friends' friend.
- not_that_noob 9y agoCan you point to the particular new limitation that will have this effect? I can't find anything in the announced changes that do this. The key attraction of FB - viral marketing for an app - is something that FB wouldn't touch I think.
- koko775 9y agoThe friends-of-friends change happened in 2014. Cambridge Analytica's method stopped working back then as apps could no longer acquire permission to query friends of friends.
- not_that_noob 9y agoSomeone can still write an app to distribute on FB, and can use its platform's ability to foster virality to make it take off. That's a core feature of FB. The change you're talking about, if indeed it was made, may reduce the speed of vitality a tad, but wouldn't really affect the ability for an app to spread virally.
- koko775 9y agoCan you cite any sources? What I've heard was that virality for apps drove off a cliff in 2014.
