I think there's a lot of instances you need more than is currently exposed for PWAs, especially on iOS. Push notifications is a big one. And the home screen installation on iOS (even with 11.3) leaves a lot to be desired compared to Android.

I recently added a web site to the home screen of an iPhone 6 and a Galaxy S7 and they look the same to me. Is there additional functionality in the Android home page icon of which I'm unaware? (Not an Android expert by any stretch of the imagination.)
