- jimktrains2 9y agoThere are many games that run well in Linux, including a large portion of the Steam library! If you meant a specific game to run, well then you need to weight your pros and cons and stop whining when you make your decision. Alternatively, dual boot.
- someguy1234567 9y agoI do that for GTA5. The only time I switch back to Windows. I don't even restart, I just hibernate linux and then everything is still there when I come back!
- AnIdiotOnTheNet 9y agoOr he could ignore people like you and just use Windows. If you're going to have a bunch of headaches you may as well stick to the ones you're familiar with on the system that actually does what you want pretty well.
- jimktrains2 9y ago> Or he could ignore people like you and just use Windows. GP is the one who said he'd move to linux if there were games. I didn't imply he was wrong for using Windows. I think you (and all other siblings) are reading more into my comment than there actually is.
- MikkoFinell 9y agoAlternatively, grow up and stop playing games.
- Asooka 9y agoThat's not really what "growing up" means.
- colejohnson66 9y agoEver played a card or board game as an adult? Why would playing video games as an adult be any different?
- NeoBasilisk 9y agoI hope you don't watch movies or TV/shows or play sports
- holtalanm 9y agoTry running Dota 2 on Windows then run it on Linux (it is available to install from Steam for Linux) and then get back to me. Last time I tried it a few years ago, it was ~10fps on linux, and a solid 100+fps on windows.
- mrisoli 9y agoI think people underestimate this issue. One of the reasons Windows is so dominant in the business landscape is because it's the OS people are used to since early years, mostly because it's bundled with most PCs people buy, but kids love to play games, and while a lot of games also come out for mac these days, Windows is still dominant in the PC gaming market. It's a bit of a reach to say this, but it's a little bit similar to McDonald's selling toys with meals to entice children.
- isostatic 9y agoThe reason windows is so popular in the home market is because it was in the 90s. businesses bought windows/office, and people brought the floppies home, which led to schools following suit, which lead to a generation thinking windows = computers.
- plopz 9y agoI grew up in the 90s and 00s and schools were all Apple but homes and businesses were all Windows
- isostatic 9y agoYes, on paper Apple was the future -- kids were learning it at school, and thus would recommend it and require it both at home, and then in the office a decade later. However Microsoft capitalised on their position in the office, and it was far cheaper to buy a fully functioning computer at home with a copy of windows and office from work. Then schools were under pressure to provide what was normal. Piracy made windows what it is.
