- volida 19y ago"red-black tree while blindfolded-in assembly" you are kidding right? most people won't know what that is and if they do they probably can't program one in C if they know programming in C
- xlnt 19y agomaybe they'll take someone who looks up what it is, and understands it, before applying
- yters 19y agoI've never seen anyone post the exact same time as me, especially someone I know.
- yters 19y agoDon't most CS courses teach them? (Not that mine did, but mine wasn't very good).
- huhtenberg 19y agoActually the correct answer is "you don't want a red-black tree, you want a splay tree" as it works with just a pair of left/right pointers and requires no extra per-node data. :)
- aston 19y agoSplay tree are the moment when you should stop reading your theoretical data structures book, for all practical purposes.
- ken 19y agoRight, and they don't want "most people" applying. That's the point. I could probably do it, but not blindfolded -- I'd have to work out (or look up) the details, because R/B-trees are the one data structure I learned in college that I have never once used. But I do know at least one person who can implement a R/B-tree in assembly off the top of his head. Coincidentally or not, he's at Google now.
- fleaflicker 19y agoIt's a joke. If that posting made you smile knowingly and you are also looking for a job, please apply.
- redorb 19y agoYnews! isn't a job board.
